Joel Tompkins and Toby Cecchini, owners of The Long Island Bar, opened The Rockwell Place at the end of 2018.

They bequeathed the bar to former employee, Alexander Kveton, in the beginning of 2025.

The Rockwell Place is in an old industrial garage space that over the years has been just about every type of club and bar imaginable. Now, it is a scrappy cocktail joint making approachable yet carefully considered cocktails, even if the intention is to make ourselves chuckle. The food, by Long Island Bar chef Kevin Walker Garrett, matches the drinks with bar food that is seemingly straightforward yet nuanced. A neighborhood spot, a haven for cocktail nerds, inquisitives, and at times a high volume pre/post-show bar — The Rockwell Place always strives to be the spot for cocktails in Fort Greene.
